St Paul’s second letter to the Thessalonians is much shorter in length. It begins by affirming the growth of the early Christians in virtue and holiness. However, he then gives clear instruction to the believers on the second coming of Jesus. False teachers had confused the early believers and it was leading them astray. He tells them that the day of the Lord is not imminent, but that it will happen. He exhorts them to stay faithful to the “”Tradition”” handed down to them. That is the “”Apostolic Tradition””. He warns of the dangers of being deluded by false teachers. He also writes about the “”man of lawlessness””, who will be revealed before the return of the Lord. He concludes by exhorting them to work hard and love their lives in a manner which pleases the Lord and will win others to Him.
