The letter of St Paul to Titus is a short letter which follows the two letters to Timothy in the Canon of the New Testament. Again, one sees the fatherly affection St Paul has for Titus, calling him his “true child in a common faith.” He instructs Titus, and all who in any way select “elders” for the Church, of the qualities one is to look for in making such a choice. He then continues his instructions by writing about how older men, younger men, older women, younger women‚ indeed, all who are followers of Jesus Christ…should live their faith. To be a Christian is to live differently. It is to cultivate the character of Christ and become that new creation He has chosen us all to become. Certainly, needed words for this hour in the Church.
