In the New Testament canon, the Apostle Paul's letters to the Thessalonians come after his letters to the Romans, Galatians, and Corinthians. Also, after the letters he wrote while he was imprisoned, to the Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians. His first letter to the Thessalonians is probably the oldest letter in the New Testament. It is a very personal letter. St Paul recalls having first evangelized them and how much joy it brought to him. He then encourages them to stay faithful to the Gospel and become evangelizers themselves. He teaches about the return of the Lord, the second coming, and calls them to place their hope in that wonderful event. He concludes the first letter calling the readers to rejoice always, pray constantly and give thanks in all circumstances because this is the will of God in Christ Jesus. Great advice for every one of us.
