The Letter of St Paul to the Romans is the longest of the Apostle's letters in the New Testament. It is extremely important because St Paul treats key matters of Christian doctrine. It contains the core of the Apostle's teaching on faith and is used often in the readings proclaimed at Holy Mass. It was written by the apostle at a time when he was planning a missionary effort in Spain. The letter, which Paul wrote from Corinth, was intended to address concerns in that church, and enlist support for his missionary effort to Spain, although he made the fateful decision to travel first to Jerusalem.
